Starting Your Own Blog and Promoting Your Niche

Starting Your Own Blog and Promoting Your Niche

Welcome to the Information Super Highway. The greatest thing about the Internet in my personal opinion is that it opened the doors to so many awesome money making opportunities. It has allowed individuals to capitalize on opportunities from even the most remote corners of the world. If there is access to the Internet then there is the possibility to capitalize on that access. It is that simple.

The focus of this post is as the title says on Blogging and Promoting Your Niche. This is to some a subject that is Greek to them.

So before we get to the meat and potatoes of the post let’s simply look at what exactly a “Blog” is. Many people have the misconception that a blog is an elaborate setup and mechanism that churns out all sorts of news, information, and content on a regular basis to its membership lists of thousands. But that simply is not true. They key to successful blogging is of course in the keeping of content fresh and regular updates there really is nothing intricate or elaborate about the blog.

So now that we have defined what a blog is not, then let’s answer the real question.  What actually then is a blog?

Well the best way I can figure to define that is that a blog is most accurately defined as a website, that has a particular niche (or array of closely-related niches) that the content of the blog is based on. The content can be informational or editorial in nature, it can serve to promote the activity of the blog owner, but the information would be released and published at a regular interval, determined by the content manager or owner of the blog. So in the simplest of terms, a blog is best defined as “just another website which is regularly updated with content as it relates to the niche around which it has been built.”

The best thing about blogging is that there is never too much content that can go on there, but the objective is to keep it niche centered, and it can be built around just about any niche. Your website could be personal and about your thoughts, your passions, your career or anything that you personally find an interest in. As you engage your reading audience they actually become part of a community, and you might just be surprised at the number of people that would look forward to what next you have in store for them next.

So with the clarification about what a blog is and what it is not, we understand that it is a niche specific website and can be about absolutely anything that the author cares to write about.  So you might be thinking to yourself…

Well simply put each and every day, more than 150,000new blogs come online on the Internet. An amazing statistic that that equates out to about 2 blogs adding on to the already growing number every second. With this kind of growth already happening, you might just be wondering whether or not starting a blog of your own should be the thing for you too. Well if my opinion were to mean anything then I would shout out a resounding “Oh Yeah!” Now, why would I say that?  Why then, you ask?

You see in order to create and keep a blog fresh if you are the chief cook and bottle washer as the expression goes is that you are constantly researching new things, new subject, new topics and yes even new products to promote on your blog that is related to your niche. So writing a blog can be for the author one of the most interesting things and one of the most challenging endeavors that you could possibly embark on. Yes, it pushes you to learn new things., to expand your horizons, and share the knowledge that you have acquired along the way. You have chosen a niche that you love for yourself, and you are sharing about it regularly. In order to come up with fresh content, however, you would need to start learning new things about the subject as no one knows everything there is to know about any particular subject. Not only would you keep the wow-factor that your audience already has about you, but would be very vast in that field in little time.

A blog is an awesome resource for any person desiring to make an impact on the world or their little corner of it. One of the best things that I love about my personal membership in Wealthy Affiliate  is that I look forward to posting my blog entry for the community to see and possibly learn from, as a matter of fact, let me share a couple of my favorite posts here with you,  just as an example. My personal niche is success and motivation as I am a motivational speaker and author so that is what my blog is al about.

I am very fortunate myself, as I have a vast array of knowledge on a variety of subjects, that allows me to write about many different things, but how do you find content for your blog, after all, we did say that you have to be posting engaging content on a regular basis. So let’s say for example your Blog is titled, “” and you had set up affiliate relationships with 3 or 4 of the largest widget manufacturers in the world. Well start at their websites, look, to begin with, a page on the “history of the widget” combine the content of the three or four sites and then simply consolidate it into about 1200-1500 words.  Then find another subject that will entertain your readers about widgets, and continue the process. Now the content section is covered at Wealthy Affiliate, how to set up the page, how to research the subjects, all covered.

Blogging is fun, and it allows you to express yourself to the entire world. Blogging is also a great way to start in the Affiliate Marketing business as you can creatively promote a variety of products.

The best part about blogging is that once you begin  to write about a subject you will find that the words begin to flow just as though you were talking to your best friend, after all, that is sort of what a blog is, it is a community of like-minded individuals that have developed a certain level of trust in the author of the blog, that he or she will deliver timely, accurate, and relevant content that matters to the community. You build on your inner voice and deliver the content.

When you commit to writing a blog, you are making a commitment not only to yourself but to your readers. All those things that you have locked up inside of you, your innermost thoughts and feelings begin to come to the surface.

Blogging, of course, is not always for the faint at heart. You will from time to time have people comment on your posts and some of those comments will, of course, be favorable, and then, of course, there will occasionally be that one or two that just feel the need to be negative about anything that anyone has to say.  Dealing with both will help you to learn to be a better person, as you face the good, the bad, and even the ugly head on.

I’m not sure exactly who it was that said that blogging was only for small talks? But, a lot of blogs out there have evolved, through their numerous posts, and effectively been able to bring the awareness of their readers and even society as a whole making them aware of some of the happenings around them. You can use your blog for any variety of reasons, as long as it fulfills a need of the readers, and at the same time makes your life more fulfilling along the way.

Think about this concept for a moment. When you are writing your blog, you are doing something that you are really passionate about. Doing what you love, having the opportunity to speak your mind and sharing your passion with the rest of the world. But the best part of it all is that you can actually make a part or full-time income from doing it. Now getting paid for what you love doing for free – is not amazing, then please tell me what is? It may take a little bit of time and effort to build value for your blog and have your audience embrace it, then at which point you will be ready to join the league of blog money-bloggers. There are numerous big blogs that make millions of dollars every year. You, of course, would start small, but this could be your opportunity to a massive stream of residual income, week after week, month after month, and year after year.

So far we have covered what a blog is, we have spoken about why you should start a blog and now you are ready for it. But there are surely things you need to consider before starting one?

Blogging is like a business, heck it isn’t like a business, it is a business. If you plan to make some money from it, then you need to take it as a serious business just the way you would any other business that you would start.  When starting your blog, the things you need to consider include, but are not limited to the following:

So why would you commit to this project in the first place? Well, you might have some preconceived answer to that off the top of your head. That is not what I am talking about here though. So as you contemplate entering this world of blogging for fun or profit, take some time off by yourself and think about why you want to start a blog in the first place. Let the answers come to you.

Now the reasons could be as unique as you yourself are. You could be a housewife who has a plethora of experiences on managing a home more efficiently. or you could be a student that has found the way to master that new age math. Heck, it might simply be that your ultimate goal is to make some residual income off the blog. Whatever it is, make sure you have a good reason for going into blogging in the first place, after all the stronger your passion or desire the more committed you will be to its success.

This might be a bit harder for some or quite easy for others, but if it is your intent to monetize your blog then you really need to define your niche and not have it be too broad, the competition would kill you. So what is it that you are truly passionate about? Is there a burning topic that you have always wanted to share with the world? What is that voice always saying that you would love to debate on a larger With a little bit of research you can acquire enough general and specific information to get started blogging.

Many of the successful bloggers that are making money consistently online started out simply by picking a subject or niche that they loved. Blogging can, however, be tasking sometimes, but it is the joy that you have for what you do, and what you talk about, that keeps you going in the end. Keeps you motivated to write and share with the world

Always be thinking about your audience or your readers, You desire to write about something, but you need to remember that others would be the one’s reading it. Think about the community – your community. Would there be a thread of interest in that post, would they want to read about what you have to say? If not, how can you make it better for them?

I once read a comment in the world of content creation that ‘Content is KING,’ but that being said please understand that no great king has ever ruled without subjects. Your readers, your community are the potential subjects. Make your content great, and watch as your readers begin to pledge their unwavering allegiance.

Now of course as we near the end of this post I would have to address this most important question, After all, I could not get you to this point and leave you hanging. That would just be WRONG!

Starting a blog is not as easy as learning your ABC’s or your addition tables. As a matter of fact, if you don’t go about it in the right way, you could end up getting frustrated and maybe even abandoning the project in the end. So that being said to get your blog up and running, your niche and great thoughts might not be enough to guarantee its success.

You prior to your launch need to deal with decisions such as what website/ platform to use, what would be an appropriate name for the blog,  how to get your traffic coming in and how to get your content ranking. These are all things that you need to do some research on.

Another thing to consider is what kind of hosting to use, how you are going to generate and maintain your mailing list, advertisements and sponsorship that might be attracted to your blog or niche, and that is just to mention but a few. While this looks like it may be a lot, I can assure you that, it is a lot… if you don’t have the right knowledge.

So, if you are looking to start your own blog today? Don’t jump through the proverbial hoops or the school of hard knocks.
